Part of Mission Australia’s Children’s Voice Project is the establishment of Children’s Advisory Councils in Ipswich and South West Brisbane. We are committed to authentically engaging with primary school aged children and fostering young leadership within our communities. In tune with the theme of Children’s Week we will be discussing with children what community means to them, the different communities they interact with (including peers), the concept of rights, connecting with others and the role of these children in being a voice for their peers. Children will also be involved in co-designing elements of the Children’s Advisory Council model and, outside of the council meeting, continuing the conversation of community and children’s place in it with their school, family and neighborhood.
