The project will consist of a weekend and after school series of creative workshops followed by a group exhibition event at the end of the week to celebrate the creativity, diversity, and expressive stories of those involved.
Each creative group workshop will involve art-making around the theme of ’creating well-being’ theme, for the participants to explore who they are, what they like about themselves, and the tools/skills/super powers and abilities they already have, who they have in their lives for the support networks, and then what worries them and ways to build their tools and resilience for their future selves and well-being.
The workshops will be facilitated by arts therapists and a youth worker, in a safe and supportive space to allow the children to explore who they are, what they have within and who they have around them, their rights to be who they are, and their sense of self and safety, to assist them to build ways to future proof their well-being.
Workshops will be held with age-appropriate content and in ways that the children can have choice and autonomy, express and explore themselves with materials that benefit their choice of expression and work. Creative artworks, poems, stories and other pieces made from the workshops will be exhibited at a small event at the end of the week and parents, caregivers and friends will be invited to attend, strengthening the connections they have with themselves, their rights and their community.
