Thousands of children across the country will applaud their right to a childhood this year as part of Children’s Week, which will be celebrated between 23 October – 31 October 2021.
Children’s Week sees thousands of children and their families from around the country involved in activities and events staged at numerous locations including schools, childcare centres, parks, playgroups, libraries and cultural and community groups.
Children’s Week is an opportunity for children to celebrate their own achievements, display their talents, demonstrate their skills and have fun!
“It is also a good time for us to talk to children about the lives of children in other parts of the world where safety and freedom are not automatic,” Dan Marais, President of Children’s Rights Queensland said.
“Children’s Rights Queensland has just unveiled a grants program as part of its 50 year celebrations, to support organisations and groups to deliver Children’s Week celebrations or projects that generate awareness of children’s rights. Our hope is that we will see many more organisations and groups celebrate Children’s Week and raise awareness of children’s rights in 2021.
This year Children’s Rights Queensland celebrates 50 years. The organisation has been known under three different names, but throughout its long history it has always sought to raise awareness of children’s rights in Queensland.
The theme for this year’s Children’s Week is “Children have the right to choose their own friends and safely connect with others.”
